May Angeli, born in 1937 in Clichy, France, studied at the École nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des métiers d'art in Paris and at the Académie d‘arts graphiques d‘Urbino in Italy. Most of her illustrations are made using woodcuts. Besides writing and illustrating children’s books, she also works on cartoons and for the theatre.
