Sozialkritisch und klug thematisiert dieser Roman die brennenden Themen unserer Zeit: Klimagerechtigkeit, Green Washing und Lebensmittelverschwendung.Natürlich hat Joel schon von geretteten Lebensmitteln gehört. Aber nachts selbst die Supermarkt-Container durchwühlen? Eher nicht. Bis Studentin Merle ihn darum bittet, für ihren Nachhaltigkeits-Blog zu recherchieren. Joel taucht ein in eine ihm bisher unbekannte Welt. Und stellt schnell fest, dass nicht nur Ökos und Weltverbesserer nachts containern gehen. Sondern auch Mädchen wie Kira, die damit hilft, ihre Familie zu ernähren. Joel gerät ins Grübeln, denn die reißerischen Methoden von Merle, die immer heftigere Storys für ihren Kanal verlangt und dabei so gar keinen Sinn für soziale Gerechtigkeit hat, gefallen ihm überhaupt nicht. Schließlich muss er sich entscheiden, auf welcher Seite er eigentlich steht. Und das wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt, als er und Kira eines Nachts erwischt werden …
