Tanja Kinkel, born in 1969, wrote her first novel at the age of 19. Today, the native Bamberger is one of the most successful authors of historical fiction. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages. In 1992 she founded the Children’s Aid Organisation “Brot und Bücher e.V."Der Wal und das Mädchen is her first picture book.
