Tanja Kinkel, born in 1969, wrote her first novel at the age of 19. Today, the native Bamberger is one of the most successful authors of historical fiction. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages. In 1992 she founded the Children’s Aid Organisation “Brot und Bücher e.V."Der Wal und das Mädchen is her first picture book.
Giuliano Ferri, born in 1965, is a graduate of the art academy in Urbino, Italy. During his studies, he had specialised in animation, but has been successfully working as an illustrator of children’s books for several years now. He lives with his wife Monika and his three children in his Italian home town Pesaro.
