Stephanie Gessner grew up in a small village in Rhineland-Palatinate surrounded by meadows and woods. During her childhood, she started to collect beautiful, strange, and funny words and turned them into her own stories. She studied literature and wrote travel reports for magazines before she settled as a children’s book author in Mainz.
Iris Hardt grew up in the Ruhr area and studied illustration in Münster later on. She still lives there, by now with her family, who serves on a regular basis as inspiration for her funny characters. For Magellan, she has drawn grumpy Christmas elves, a prince scarecrow and a moon pony. In her spare time, she collects unusual bulk rubbish finds or fossilised dinosaur droppings.
