Dottie can hardly believe it: Frieda came to the 21st century with her! The future seems just as adventurous to the baroness as she had always imagined. Everything is brighter and louder and faster. There’s ice cream in the middle of summer, cars, bicycles, music boxes with dubious autocorrect ... and the fact that you have to cook for yourself is by no means the biggest challenge! Yet the limitless freedom comes to an abrupt halt when you’re a fourteen-year-old trying to get on a plane without a passport.
Together, Frieda and Dottie, who is dealing with a lot of strange feelings, try to find out more about their magical writing desk. They come across clues that it made a detour across the Atlantic in its mysterious history. Will Frieda’s big dream of travelling to America come true after all?
